NFL Fantasy 2025 Start 'Em, Sit 'Em: Quarterbacks for Week 4

You have lineup questions, we have lineup answers -- at least we hope so. Start 'Em, Sit 'Em is here to help fantasy managers make difficult roster decisions. And you know what is a good move? Starting Lamar Jackson. But that's too obvious, so you won't see such simple analysis here. Instead, we're exploring more debatable situations. And if you can't find a player you are looking for, please check out the latest NFL Fantasy lineup rankings.

NOTE: Unless otherwise indicated, all stats come from NFL Pro, Next Gen Stats or NFL Research.

Start 'Em

Justin Herbert
Los Angeles Chargers LAC

Herbert, currently ranked as the QB6 in fantasy points on the season, is playing well enough to put himself in the early MVP conversation. Last week against the Broncos, who boast one of the best secondaries in the game, Herbert showed off his safe floor, putting up 14.6 points; this week against the Giants, he might get to dazzle us with his high ceiling. On the year, Big Blue has allowed the third-most passing yards in the NFL while generating pressure and sacks at a rate that is well below average, so Herbert should have the time to allow his receivers to pick apart their secondary. Two of the three QBs to face the Giants have topped 20 fantasy points -- with Patrick Mahomes as the lone exception. Start Herbert.

Jordan Love
Green Bay Packers GB

Week 3 was one to forget for Love and the Packers. Still, he's shown in the past he can take advantage of favorable matchups, and there might be no more favorable matchup for quarterbacks than the Cowboys' defense. Dallas has allowed the most passing yards and fantasy PPG to opposing QBs in the NFL, coughing up the second-most passing touchdowns while creating pressure and sacks at a below-average rate. Every QB who has faced the Cowboys this season has scored at least 24 fantasy points, including Week 3's QB1, Caleb Williams, who romped to a career day. Another wrinkle to consider: This is the Sunday Night Football game -- and Love has averaged 23 fantasy PPG on Sunday nights since becoming the Packers' starter in 2023.

Justin Fields
New York Jets NYJ

We've seen Fields' ups and downs this season, but if he gets back into the Jets' lineup after missing Week 3 with a concussion, you should also start him in anticipation of a potentially big fantasy day against the Dolphins. Not only have the Jets' starting QBs (including Tyrod Taylor last Sunday) rushed for over 40 yards in every game this season, but Miami has given up a league-high three rushing TDs to QBs while creating pressure at the second-lowest rate in the NFL and allowing the fifth-most passing TDs and the highest passer rating. Every QB to face Miami so far finished in the top five in fantasy points at the position that week. Provided he is healthy, Fields is very much in play.

Bo Nix
Denver Broncos DEN

Nix finished Week 3 with 153 passing yards and one touchdown -- and if you rewatch that game against the Chargers, you will see that a ton of production was left on the field. He missed Marvin Mims Jr. open downfield twice (both certainly would have been TDs) and Courtland Sutton once (it would have been a long gain at least, if not a score). It was bad. On a positive note, though: Broncos receivers were able to consistently get open downfield. That should lead to a big week against the Bengals, who have allowed the eighth-most passing yards and fifth-most touchdowns to QBs. Give Nix another chance.

Caleb Williams
Chicago Bears CHI

Hopefully, you started Williams last week, so that you could enjoy his career day and QB1 finish. It marked the first game of his NFL tenure so far in which he was not sacked, and he was pressured the fewest times (seven) he's ever been. Perhaps the shakiness of the Cowboys' defense played a role, but even so, the Bears' offense looks like it is starting to click. We saw Ben Johnson get in his bag, and hopefully he does it more moving forward. As for the Raiders, well, they've created pressure at the ninth-lowest rate in the NFL, even below what the Cowboys have managed so far. Plus, Las Vegas sits in the top 10 in passing yards and passer rating allowed. Ride the hot hand with Williams!

Sit 'Em

Dak Prescott
Dallas Cowboys DAL

Prescott has only enjoyed one big performance so far, against the Giants, and has totaled just three passing touchdowns through three games in 2025 -- equaling the number of picks he's thrown. To make matters worse, he is expected to be without his top receiver, CeeDee Lamb, for a bit. This week, Prescott faces the Packers, who have allowed the sixth-fewest passing yards and just three passing touchdowns this season while generating pressure and sacks at above-average rates. Plus, Micah Parsons and Co. should be even more fired up than usual for this showdown with Parsons' old chums. Given the matchup and the lack of fantasy production from Dak so far, I would look to get away -- as I am planning to do in a couple of leagues this week, where I will turn to Justin Fields instead.

Kyler Murray
Arizona Cardinals ARI

I am a Kyler supporter -- us short kings have to stick together -- but it might be time to start a conversation about his lack of fantasy success. Even though Murray is running like we'd want him to, he has yet to score 19 fantasy points in a game this season and has been held under 15 points in each of the past two weeks. His single-game high mark for passing yards so far is 220, continuing a trend from 2024, when he topped 300 passing yards just twice and threw multiple TD passes in just four games. The 28-year-old is also struggling to elevate his weapons. I do not think we're suddenly going to have more fun starting Murray this week against a very tough Seahawks defense, which has logged more interceptions than passing touchdowns allowed on the season while creating pressure at an extremely high rate (44 percent -- league average is 35). I am playing Caleb Williams over Kyler in a league myself.

Daniel Jones
Indianapolis Colts IND

Jones has been nothing short of fantastic to start the season, ranking as the QB4 in fantasy points heading into Week 4, but I think this Rams team will be able to get after him enough to cause problems. So far, the Colts have allowed sacks at the lowest rate in the NFL -- partly because they have played two of the worst five teams in the league in terms of pressure rate. Yes, I know Jones and Co. did light up the Broncos, who are tied for first in pressure rate (50.4 percent), but can we trust him to repeat that against the Rams, who rank fifth in that category, knowing he entered the season with a career passer rating of 69.7 when pressured? This seems like a huge test for him.

C.J. Stroud
Houston Texans HOU

Anyone asking about Trevor Lawrence's lack of fantasy relevance should also be having a similar discussion about Stroud, who has not thrown for 250-plus yards in a regular-season game since Week 11 of last year. Going back to the beginning of 2024, he is tied for the league lead in turnovers. Last season, Stroud averaged 13 fantasy PPG and posted two top-12 finishes, and so far this season, he has yet to score 15 fantasy points in a game. The Titans are not a scary matchup at all. In fact, they are the kind of team we should be able to start Stroud against. However, given his long-term struggles to produce, I do not see any way you can trust him in fantasy.

Aaron Rodgers
Pittsburgh Steelers PIT

Of all QBs who have attempted a minimum of 10 passes this season, Rodgers has the lowest air yards-per-attempt mark (5.4). He has the fourth-lowest success rate, per Next Gen Stats, ahead of only Cam Ward, Joe Flacco and J.J. McCarthy. He is running hot, touchdown-wise, carrying a TD rate of 8.1 percent, which would be his best mark since 2020 and the third-best of his illustrious career -- but that trend seems very unlikely to hold. Even with that abnormally high TD rate, Rodgers was held under 12 fantasy points in each of the last two weeks. Ignore the name, the team and the cool moments we have seen so far; for fantasy purposes, Rodgers offers little. I would be especially eager to sit him against a blitz-heavy team like the Vikings in this Dublin showdown.
