The on-field injury of Damar Hamlin shed light on the importance of the NFL medical staff's preparedness in crucial situations. In its inaugural year, the NFL Diversity in Sports Medicine Pipeline Initiative selected medical students from the nation's HBCU's to work with teams and expose them to what goes into being an NFL physician.
