Super Bowl XLIV hero Tracy Porter, Brett Maxie to be inducted into Saints Hall of Fame

One of the heroes of the New Orleans Saints' lone Super Bowl win will be immortalized in franchise history this year.

The Saints announced on Wednesday that former cornerback Tracy Porter and safety Brett Maxie will be inducted into the team's Hall of Fame the weekend of New Orleans' Week 15 game against the Carolina Panthers.

Porter played just four seasons for the Saints, but he made his mark during his brief time in the Bayou. Porter holds claim one of the most famous plays in Saints history when he intercepted Peyton Manning in the fourth quarter of Super Bowl XLIV and returned it for a game-sealing touchdown in the 31-17 win over the Indianapolis Colts.

Selected by New Orleans in the second round of the 2008 draft, Porter appeared in 43 games with 39 starts.

Maxie played nine seasons with the Saints, logging 15 interceptions, and was a key member of New Orleans' first winning season and playoff appearance. Maxie's fourth-down tackle in a Week 11 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers in 1987 helped seal the franchise's first winning season.

The Saints also announced on Wednesday that Steve Gleason will be honored with the Saints Hall of Fame Courage Award and former WGNO sports director Ed Daniels will posthumously receive the Joe Gemelli "Fleur de Lis" Award.
