Titans waive/injure 2022 first-round pick Treylon Burks

Treylon Burks' underwhelming stint in Tennessee is over.

The Titans waived/injured the receiver on Monday, just two days after he suffered a fractured collarbone during training camp, the team announced.

Tennessee's decision to waive Burks with an injury designation sends him to waivers, where the other 31 NFL teams can claim him if they so desire. If Burks goes unclaimed, he will revert to the team's injured reserve.

Burks was selected No. 18 overall in the 2022 NFL Draft with a pick received after the Titans sent A.J. Brown to the Philadelphia Eagles. The hope was he'd replace the departed Brown. Such ambition, however, never came to fruition. His rookie receiving output of 444 yards, while low, ended up being his career-high mark in a span in which he caught just 53 passes for 699 yards and one touchdown over three campaigns.

Burks struggled to find his footing while the Titans wandered in the abyss, trying multiple options at quarterback (Ryan Tannehill, Will Levis, Malik Willis and Mason Rudolph) and declining from a team that earned the AFC's top seed in 2021 to the worst in the NFL by the end of 2024.

Throughout that three-year stretch, Burks never got going. He saw 54 targets over 11 games (six starts) as a rookie, but saw his offensive snaps decrease so significantly over the next two seasons that he had to find a role on special teams just to get on the field in 2024. Health issues didn't help, either. Burks missed time in 2023 due to concussions and knee issues, and suffered a season-ending ACL injury during a special teams drill in 2024.

2025 was setting up to be a make-or-break season for Burks, who stated his intent to "prove myself right" with a bounce-back campaign that was trending optimistically after he managed to complete his return from the ACL injury ahead of schedule. Those pursuits ended abruptly with the collarbone injury, prompting Tennessee to accept reality and waive Burks Monday.
