A reunion in Minnesota awaits Adrian Peterson and he intends on being there ready to go despite an injured ankle and a short week.
"Night [and] day from [Monday]," Peterson told Pelissero of how his ankle had improved. "I should [be] ready to go."
In a wet and wild game on Sunday, Peterson had 20 carries for 81 yards. He also fumbled on the play in which he hurt his ankle.
On Monday, Redskins coach Bill Callahan told the media Peterson was being evaluated.
Peterson has extra incentive to return as the Redskins will be playing in Minnesota, where All Day spent 10 years. Since leaving the Vikings, Peterson has played for the Cardinals, Saints and now the Redskins. Should he play Thursday, A.P. would face his former franchise for just the second time. The first was a forgettable start for New Orleans on Sept. 11, 2017 in which he had just 18 yards on six carries.
With 20 or more carries in each of the last two weeks, if Peterson is ready as he predicts, he should play a lot bigger role in his return to Minnesota this time around. Just like the feeling in his ankle, Peterson is no doubt aiming the difference is like night and All Day.

- Minnesota Vikings coach Mike Zimmer said wideout Adam Thielen (hamstring) has chance to play Thursday night. "We'll see more tomorrow. He's improving fast," he said. Pelissero reports Thielen, who official did not practice Tuesday, has come a long way in the two days since sustaining the injury and is "extremely hopeful" he will play.
The Vikings also released cornerback Marcus Sherels. The 32-year-old special teamer has been with Minnesota for all 10 seasons of his career.
- The Houston Texans may not be done at corner, as cornerback E.J. Gaines is visiting them today, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported, per a source informed. He has 38 starts in his career and is now fully healthy, Rapoport added.
Houston also announced the release of tight end Logan Paulsen.
- The Kansas City Chiefs announced they promoted quarterbackKyle Shurmur from the practice squad to the 53-man roster. The team also announced the signing of defensive tackle Mike Pennel and that wide receiver De'Anthony Thomas and defensive end Terrell McClain had been released. Defensive tackle Braxton Hoyett was added to the practice squad.
- Tampa Bay Buccaneers pass rusher Jason Pierre-Paul gave an update on getting back from his neck injury, saying, "Everything is good right now. I'm on the right track. I've got a lot to do in a short amount of time," per the team's Carmen Vitali.
- The Philadelphia Eagles are working out defensive lineman Datone Jones on Tuesday, source tell NFL Network's Mike Garafolo. Jones is a former Packers first-round pick who has recently worked out with the Raiders, as well.
- Dion Jordan, the former No. 3 overall pick by the Dolphins in 2013, will be eligible to return from his 10-game suspension for violation of the league's performance-enhancing drug policy and the defensive end has received interest from a "bunch" of teams, Pelissero reported. Jordan last played for Seahawks in 2018, seeing action in 12 games.
- The Jacksonville Jaguars signed free agent linebacker Malcolm Smith on Tuesday. Smith, the MVP of Super Bowl XLVIII, was cut by the 49ers in August after two injury-ridden seasons in San Francisco.
- The San Francisco 49ers have released long snapper Garrison Sanborn, the team announced.
- The Tennessee Titans announced they have re-signing defensive lineman Matt Dickers and waived outside linebacker Derick Roberson.
- The Chicago Bears announced the signing of defensive lineman Brent Urban and that they waived defensive lineman Jonathan Harris.
- The New England Patriots are signing special teamer Justin Bethel, Rapoport reported. Bethel, an eight-year veteran, was cut by Baltimore on Monday seven games into his first season with the club.
- The Los Angeles Chargers agreed to terms with defensive tackle Sylvester Williams, his agency announced.
