Brock Purdy will miss another game on Sunday.
The 49ers quarterback will miss his sixth game of 2025 due to a toe injury, according to the team's injury report. Receiver Ricky Pearsall (knee) will also miss Sunday's contest against the Houston Texans, his fourth game missed this season.
Friday's news is becoming a weekly occurrence as Purdy and Pearsall work toward returning at some point this season. Purdy has continued to trend closer toward regaining his role in the starting lineup in recent weeks, but veteran backup Mac Jones will once again be tasked with filling in for him on Sunday.
With Pearsall out, the 49ers will lean on a top three of Jauan Jennings, Kendrick Bourne and Demarcus Robinson at the position. Fortunately for San Francisco, tight end George Kittle returned from injury last week in a 20-10 win over Atlanta that depended heavily on contributions from running back Christian McCaffrey.
San Francisco might have to lean on McCaffrey again this weekend versus the NFL's fourth-ranked defense.
