Joe Douglas is returning to Philadelphia.
The Eagles are hiring the former New York Jets general manager to a senior scouting role, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported on Monday, per sources informed of the situation.
Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer first reported the news.
Douglas worked for the Eagles from 2016 to 2019 under Howie Roseman as the vice president of player personnel before being hired by the Jets for their GM Job.
Gang Green fired Douglas in November after a 3-8 start to the season -- the last of his contract. New York went 32-68 in six seasons under Douglas with zero playoff appearances.
While his time in New York turned out disastrous, Douglas is still respected as one of the better scouts in the NFL. His famed 2022 draft class, which included cornerback Sauce Gardner, wide receiver Garrett Wilson, running back Breece Hall and pass rusher Jermaine Johnson II, is one of the best of the past handful of years.
Douglas helped build the Eagles' 2017 Super Bowl squad before leaving for the Big Apple. Now he'll return to help Philly try to stay atop the NFL following its second franchise Lombardi.
