Dolphins WR Tyreek Hill, Olympic gold medalist Noah Lyles agree to race in 2025

A race between two of the fastest people on the planet will apparently take place in the coming months.

After verbally sparring for some time, Dolphins receiver Tyreek Hill and Olympic champion Noah Lyles agreed to race each other this spring or summer, the duo told People Magazine in a joint interview.

"This has been an ongoing thing for quite some time now, and I mean, everybody's seen the back and forth on social media," Hill said. "I've been very adamant to show people what real, true speed looks like."

Hill and Lyles have been yapping about who is faster for a while at this point. In August, Hill was adamant he could beat the 100-meter gold medalist. After winning a 60M final in the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix earlier this month, Lyles held a sign that read, "Tyreek could never."

"I think it speaks for itself," Lyles told People of the sign. "Everybody says that they're gonna be the world's fastest, but when it comes down to it, you gotta be the winner every time, each and every time, and every time I show up to the biggest moments, I win."

"… That's why I'm the world's fastest. I did at the Olympics. I do it at world championships. I do it wherever it's needed to be done. And if I gotta go down and, you know, beat up on Tyreek to prove that I'm the world's fastest, then it's gonna be done."

A date and location for the race is still to be determined, but the plan is for the speedsters to face off before Lyles completes at the U.S. Championships in July.

The 30-year-old Hill said he has a "lot of respect" for Lyles, 27, and all track athletes, but he's "got to do this for the guys that play my sport."

"We can come and take over your sport at any moment if we really wanted to," Hill added.

The race distance is also TBD. Hill prefers to be closer to 40 yards, and Lyles favors 100 meters. The exception is that they will meet in the middle.

If and when the event takes place, we'll finally have an end to the verbal chatter.
