Aaron Rodgers has taken Brett Favre's spot once again.
The Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback surpassed his former teammate for fourth place all-time in career touchdown passes in Sunday's 21-14 win over the host New England Patriots, throwing his 509th TD.
Just a game prior, Rodgers tied Favre in the record books with career TD toss No. 508. He took fourth place for himself with his first touchdown pass on Sunday, connecting with DK Metcalf in the second quarter to improve Pittsburgh's lead to 14-0.
The veteran QB tossed a second TD, the game-winner, to Calvin Austin III in the fourth quarter for No. 510. Rodgers finished 16-of-23 passing for 139 yards, two passing TDs and an interception in Pittsburgh's second victory of the young season.
Once teammates on the Green Bay Packers, Rodgers and Favre are now connected in the history books, though the 41-yard Rodgers still has some time to climb the all-time ladder.
Favre was a member of the Minnesota Vikings when he threw his final touchdown on Dec. 20, 2010, against the Chicago Bears. Not long after, Favre ended his career as the league's leader in career TD tosses.
Favre's been surpassed in the league chronicles by Hall of Famer Peyton Manning (539 career touchdown passes) and future Hall of Famers Drew Brees (571) and Tom Brady (649).
Rodgers was memorably selected with the 24th overall pick in the 2005 NFL Draft by the Packers to be Favre's heir apparent. After waiting in the wings for three seasons, Rodgers took over at QB1 for the Packers while Favre joined the New York Jets.
After 18 seasons with the Packers and Jordan Love's selection in the 2020 first round, Rodgers also left the Packers for the Jets.
In 2024, Rodgers tossed his 500th career touchdown in the final week of the season while playing for New York. He became only the fifth player to hit the landmark.
Now, Rodgers stands in sole possession of No. 4 all-time, having supplanted his former Packers teammate all these years later.
