2021 NFL free agency: Wednesday roundup of latest news, buzz

The Las Vegas Raiders added more speed to their wide receiver corps.

The Raiders and veteran receiver John Brown agreed to terms on a one-year contract worth $3.7 million with incentives that could push the deal to $5.5 million, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport and NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reported, per sources informed of the pact.

Adam Caplan of SiriusXM NFL Radio first reported the deal.

Brown spent the last two seasons in Buffalo before being released last week. In nine games in 2020, the speedster generated 458 yards and three touchdowns on 33 receptions. Brown enjoyed the best season of his career in 2019 as the Bills' top target, compiling 72 catches for 1,060 yards and six TDs.

We know the Raiders have always loved speed at receiver, dating back to the days of legendary owner Al Davis. Brown brings that in spades.

The man known affectionately as "Smoke" will help replace Nelson Agholor, who excelled last season in Vegas as a field-stretching option for Derek Carr. Agholor agreed to a deal in New England.

Turning 31 years old next month, Brown hasn't lost a step when healthy. The veteran should carve out a stellar role alongside Henry Ruggs III, Hunter Renfrow and Bryan Edwards in 2021.

The Raiders are also re-signing linebacker Nicholas Morrow to a one-year, $5 million deal that fully guarantees $4.5 million, per Rapoport. Zay Jones, who joined the Raiders' WR corps via trade in 2019, is expected to remain with the team on a one-year deal, as well, Rapoport reported. Offensive lineman Denzelle Good is re-signing on a two-year deal, per Rapoport. The deal will be worth up to $8.36 million with $3.19 million guaranteed, per Garafolo. Guard Richie Incognito will return after signing a one-year deal worth up to $2.62 million, including $1.1M guaranteed, Pelissero reported, per a source.

Defensive tackle Solomon Thomas, the No. 3 pick in 2017, is joining the Raiders on a one-year deal worth up to $5 million, Pelissero reported, per a source. The Raiders are also re-signing DT Johnathan Hankins to a one-year, $3.5 million fully guaranteed contract, per Pelissero. Ex-Bills DT Quinton Jefferson has signed on with Las Vegas, the team announced.

Elsewhere in the NFL on Wednesday:

• The Jacksonville Jaguars have received a few calls from teams inquiring about quarterback Gardner Minshew, Rapoport reported. Jacksonville is expected to draft a QB with the first overall pick. It makes Minshew expendable, and Rapoport added available, after he closed out his second season on the bench. Following a surprisingly promising rookie year for the former sixth-round pick, Minshew wasn't quite as effective in Year 2 while the Jags won just one of his eight starts. Also, the Jags traded tight end Josh Oliver to the Ravens for a conditional draft pick, per Rapoport, via a source.
• On the first day in which the Detroit Lions' trade of longtime franchise quarterback Matthew Stafford to the Los Angeles Rams could become official, the team released a nine-minute video narrated by Stafford which showed highlights of his tenure and allowed him to bid farewell to Detroit. It culminated with Stafford draping his jersey across a sideline bench on Ford Field and walking away, with the final words of, "Thank you for everything Detroit, sincerely No. 9." The Lions will have a new starter in Jared Goff and a new backup in Tim Boyle, who's signing with the Lions on a one-year, $2.5 million deal, per Pelissero and Garafolo. Previously Aaron Rodgers' understudy in Green Bay, Boyle's staying in the NFC North and he'll get a $1 million signing bonus and $1.5 million in total guarantees, Pelissero reported.

• Alex Mack may be returning home for the final stretch of his NFL career. The veteran free-agent center is expected to sign with the San Francisco 49ers, a source tells Rapoport. This move came minutes after San Francisco agreed to terms with left tackle Trent Williams on an historic six-year, $138.06 million deal, Pelissero reported. The top free agent in this year's class received $55.1 million in fully guaranteed money and a $30.1 million signing bonus. The Niners released wide receiver Marquise Goodwin, who reverted to San Francisco's roster this week because of stipulations in his 2020 trade to the Eagles. Goodwin opted out of last season. The 49ers are re-signing defensive tackle D.J. Jones to a one-year deal, per Rapoport. Jones has started 25 games for San Francisco the past two years. The team also re-signed cornerback Briean Boddy-Calhoun and tight end Daniel Helm to one-year deals.
• No position group has been a bigger priority for the Chiefs in free agency than the offensive line. After agreeing to terms on a splashy, five-year deal with guard Joe Thuney, they made a run at left tackle Trent Williams. While that position remains vacant, Kansas City looks to be zeroing in on its options at the other four spots. NFL Network's James Palmer reported veteran guard Kyle Long has agreed to sign with the club; Long, who has been working toward a comeback, met with K.C. earlier in the day. Lucas Niang, who opted out last year, is slated to return and play right tackle, Palmer reported. Also helping matters is Thuney can play multiple spots, something the Chiefs have leaned on a lot in recent years and will allow them to draft a lineman without reaching.
• The Seattle Seahawks are signing former Rams tight end Gerald Everett to a one-year deal worth $6 million, Rapoport reported, per a source. Everett, 26, logged 127 receptions for 1,389 yards and eight TDs in four seasons with L.A. Seattle is also bringing in guard Gabe Jackson from the Las Vegas Raiders in exchange for a fifth-round pick, Pelissero reported.
• Richard Sherman is looking for a new home this offseason. But on the eve of free agency, the cornerback doesn't have a final landing spot, despite reports on Tuesday that the Saints were among the teams targeting Sherman. So leave it to the CB, who's representing himself in free agency, to offer teams a final sales pitch, courtesy of Pro Football Focus:

• The Green Bay Packers and linebacker Za'Darius Smith completed a restructure of his contract to create cap room that enabled the team to extend running back Aaron Jones, per Rapoport.
• The Indianapolis Colts are re-signing Marlon Mack for one year and $2 million, per Pelissero. Mack, ranked No. 78 in Gregg Rosenthal's Top 101 NFL free agents in 2021 list, is working his way back from a torn Achilles suffered in Week 1. Indy claimed nose tackle Andrew Brown off waivers from the Texans, Pelissero reported via the transaction wire.
• The Atlanta Falcons announced they acquired tight end Lee Smith from the Bills in exchange for a 2022 seventh-round pick.
• The Washington Football Team is signing running back Lamar Miller to a one-year deal, Rapoport reported. Miller spent the 2020 season with the Patriots, Bears and Football Team. Washington is expected to sign wide receiver Curtis Samuel to a three-year deal worth $34.5 million, Rapoport reported.
• The Houston Texans re-signed tight end Pharaoh Brown to a one-year $2.2 million deal, per Rapoport. Former Browns linebacker Tae Davis is signing with Houston, per Davis' agency, and another former Browns player, cornerback Tavierre Thomas is signing with the team on a two-year pact, per Pelissero.
• The Tampa Bay Buccaneers announced linebacker Shaquil Barrett's four-year extension is now official. Guard Aaron Stinnie re-signed to an undisclosed deal, per the team. Kicker Ryan Succop is staying after signing a three-year deal worth $12 million with $6.25M guaranteed, Rapoport reported, per a source. Succup will get $8.25 million over the first two years, he added.
• The Dolphins have agreed to a one-year deal worth up to $2.75 million with former Lions cornerback Justin Coleman, Pelissero reported. Miami is signing former Patriots defensive tackle Adam Butler to a two-year deal worth up to $9.5 million, Rapoport reported. The Dolphins also re-signed offensive tackle Adam Pankey. Wide receiver Robert Foster is signing with Miami, per his agency.
• The New York Giants announced offensive tackle Nate Solder has signed a new deal. Solder opted out of the 2020 season. Rapoport reported over the weekend New York had agreed on a reworked deal with Solder, who was due $10 million and would cost $16.5 million against the cap. N.Y. has been in talks with receiver Kenny Golladay and are expected to bring him in for a visit prior to signing him to a deal, Rapoport reported, per a source. Former Vikings pass rusher Ifeadi Odenigbo signed a one-year deal with Big Blue, Odenigbo's agent announced. It's a $2.5 million deal, per Pelissero.
• Center Ted Karras has agreed to return to the New England Patriots on a one-year, $4 million deal, Pelissero reported. The fifth-year veteran spent the past season with the Dolphins. New England is placing a second-round tender on restricted free-agent cornerback J.C. Jackson, per Rapoport. The Pats continue to engage with teams in trade talks for receiver N'Keal Harry, NFL Network's Mike Giardi reported. New England is also re-signing linebacker Kyle Van Noy on a two-year deal worth up to $13.2 million, Rapoport and Garafolo reported.
• Dallas Cowboys cornerback Jourdan Lewis, a third-round pick in 2017, will stay with the club after signing a three-year deal, per Lewis' agents.

• The Tennessee Titans have agreed to terms with tight ends Anthony Firkser and Geoff Swaim on a pair of one-year extensions. Linebacker Jayon Brown signed a one-year deal worth $5.25M to stay with the team, Pelissero reported, per a source. Pelissero added that Brown turned down other offers to return and reset his budding market prior to his elbow injury last season.
• The Cincinnati Bengals are re-signing cornerback Tony Brown, per Rapoport. The team is also set to host former Vikings offensive tackle Riley Reiff on a free-agent visit, Rapoport reported. Adding to its defensive front, the Bengals are signing DL Larry Ogunjobi to a one-year deal as the former Brown stays in the AFC North, per Rapoport. Ogunjobi is No. 62 in Gregg Rosenthal's Top 101 free agents of 2021.
• Nick Sundberg, Washington's long snapper since 2010, announced on Twitter that he has been informed he won't be returning in 2021.
• The Carolina Panthers have agreed to terms with linebacker Denzel Perryman on a two-year deal, per Perryman's agent. Carolina also signed former Cardinals pass rusher Haason Reddick to a one-year deal worth up $8 million ($6 million guaranteed), per Rapoport and Garafolo. Former Rams defensive lineman Morgan Fox will join Carolina after signing a two-year, $8.1 million deal ($7 million guaranteed), per Pelissero.
• The Cleveland Browns are re-signing linebacker Malcolm Smith, Garafolo reported, and they're bringing back wideout Rashard Higgins on a one-year deal, per Rapoport.
• The Buffalo Bills have re-signed cornerback Levi Wallace to a one-year deal and tendered restricted free agent guard Ike Boettger.
• The Chicago Bears released cornerback Buster Skrine. Rapoport reported Chicago is bringing back safety Deon Bush on a one-year deal. Chicago has agreed to terms with defensive lineman Angelo Blackson, who was formerly with the Cardinals, on a two-year contract, per Rapoport.
• The New York Jets re-signed running back Josh Adams, who rushed for 157 yards and two touchdowns last year.
• The Minnesota Vikings re-signed wide receiver Chad Beebe, Garafolo reported per Beebe's agent. Minnesota is also bringing in former eight-time Pro Bowl cornerback Patrick Peterson on a one-year, $10 million deal, per Rapoport.
• The Arizona Cardinals announced the signing of ex-Lions kicker Matt Prater. His deal will be for two years and includes $7 million base salary with some incentives, Rapoport reported, per a source.
• The Philadelphia Eagles announced they have released receiver Alshon Jeffery and defensive tackle Malik Jackson. News of Jeffery's release was first reported on Feb. 22.
• The Denver Broncos signed former Vikings running back Mike Boone to a two-year contract with $2.6 million guaranteed, including a $1.6M signing bonus, Pelissero reported, per a source.
