Once a foe, Melvin Ingram may become a friend in Kansas City.
The Kansas City Chiefs are set to host the free-agent linebacker for a visit this upcoming week, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reports, per a source.
Ingram had spent his entire nine-year career with the Los Angeles Chargers until becoming a free agent this offseason. Ingram produced 49 total sacks during his time with the team that selected him No. 18 overall in 2012. An injury-laden season in 2020 held the soon-to-be 32-year-old to just seven games, but Ingram still managed to get five sacks last year.
Adding Ingram is an intriguing play for the Chiefs. The team compiled just 32 sacks (22nd in NFL) during the regular season and the pass rush was bottled up completely in the Chiefs' loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Super Bowl LV. Couple in the element of an intra-divisional rivalry and you have yourself a find.

- Indianapolis Colts cornerback Xavier Rhodes has agreed to return to the team on a one-year, $6.5 million deal, Rapoport reported, per a source. Ranked No. 53 on Gregg Rosenthal's Top 101 free agents, Rhodes is fresh off a bounce-back year that saw him record 42 tackles, 12 passes defensed and two interceptions.
- The Houston Texans are signing former Jets pass-rusher Jordan Jenkins to a two-year deal worth $6 million, Rapoport reports, per a source. Jenkins will have a chance to earn $8 million through incentives, Rapoport added. The Texans have restructured left tackle Laremy Tunsil's contract, turning his 2021 salary into a $990K base with a $15.16M signing bonus to create $10.11M in cap space, Rapopor reported, per a source. The final two years are unchanged for Tunsil, the player and the agent, he noted.
- Cincinnati Bengals tackle Riley Reiff's new one-year deal is for $7.5 million including a $5.5 million signing bonus, according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero. Void year lowers the team's cap to about $3.7 million.
- The Chicago Bears officially released Pro Bowl cornerback Kyle Fuller, per Pelissero, via the transaction wire. News of Fuller's release was originally reported on Thursday. Fuller later agreed to terms on a deal with the Denver Broncos. The team also signed CB Desmond Trufant to a one-year deal.
- The Dallas Cowboys are signing safety Keanu Neal to a one-year deal, $5 million deal, per Pelissero.
- New York Jets safety Marcus Maye accepted his franchise tag.
- The Los Angeles Chargers are signing veteran offensive lineman Oday Aboushi to a one-year, $1.75 million deal, a source tells NFL Network's Mike Garafolo.
- The Pittsburgh Steelers are signing safety and special teams ace Miles Killebrew to a one-year deal, Rapoport reports. The team is also adding offensive lineman Joe Haeg, according to Garafolo. Cornerback Cameron Sutton re-signed on a two-year deal, Pittsburgh announced. The deal is expected to be worth $9 million, Pelissero and Garafolo reported earlier this week.
- Jacksonville Jaguars punter Logan Cooke has signed a contract extension, the team announced.
- The Arizona Cardinals have released kicker Brett Maher, the team announced.
- The Miami Dolphins released former first-round pick Isaiah Wilson.
- The NFL reinstated defensive back Josh Shaw, who was suspended last year for violating the league's rules on gambling on NFL games, Pelissero reported. Shaw, a fourth-round pick out of USC in 2015, is now a free agent.
