Wednesday's NFL training camp injury and roster news

The 2020 regular season is just around the corner, and NFL Network has you covered with wall-to-wall training camp coverage each day starting at 10 a.m. ET. Follow along here as we keep up with all the news, injuries and transactions of the day.

  • The San Francisco 49ers are expected to sign receiver Jaron Brown and offensive lineman Hroniss Grasu, pending their final COVID-19 tests, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported. Brown caught 16 balls for 220 yards and two scores last season in Seattle. Grasu spent 2019 with the Ravens.
  • The Philadelphia Eagles are dealing with a slew of injuries. Per multiple reporters, tight end Dallas Goedert (upper body), defensive back Sidney Jones (lower body) and running back Boston Scott (lower body) are day-to-day, while starting running back Miles Sanders is week-to-week with a lower body injury. Veteran defensive tackle Fletcher Cox enjoyed a veteran's day off.
  • Cincinnati Bengals defensive tackle Renell Wren suffered a significant quadriceps injury in Monday's practice and is seeking a second opinion as to whether he'll have season-ending surgery, NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reported, per a source. On the bright side, Cincy is optimistic that safety Shawn Williams, who was carted off this week with a calf injury, could be back by Week 1, Pelissero added.
  • Atlanta Falcons guard Jamon Brown was placed into the concussion protocol.
  • The Buffalo Bills held defensive lineman Ed Oliver (hip soreness), offensive lineman Jon Feliciano, defensive tackle Quinton Jefferson, tight end Tommy Sweeney, receiver Robert Foster and fullback Patrick DiMarco out of practice on Wednesday. In non-injury news, Buffalo signed punter Lachlan Edwards and waived punter Kaare Vedvik.
  • New York Jets rookie receiver Denzel Mims (hamstring) sat out Wednesday's practice, again, as did cornerbacks Pierre Desir (hamstring) and Brian Poole (dehydration), linebacker James Burgess (back), edge rusher Jabari Zuniga (quad), tackle Cameron Clark (shoulder) and defensive end Bronson Kaufusi (hamstring). Tackle Conor McDermott suffered a knee injury in practice and will undergo an MRI. Off the field, New York officially announced its signing of WR Chris Hogan. In a corresponding move, the Jets waived running back Kenneth Dixon. The team also brought in former Giants quarterback Kyle Lauletta for a tryout, per SNY's Ralph Vacchiano.
  • According to NFL Network's Mike Giardi, New England Patriots receiver N'Keal Harry and edge rusher Derek Rivers were two of eight players to miss part of Pats practice Wednesday.
  • Washington coach Ron Rivera said the team had to be cautious with No. 2 pick Chase Young on Wednesday. The defensive end is dealing with a hip flexor. Washington worked out former 49ers guard Joshua Garnett, a 2016 first-rounder.
  • Indianapolis Colts coach Frank Reich told reporters that defensive tackle Sheldon Day will be out a bit with a knee injury.
  • Kansas City Chiefs defensive tackle Chris Jones, defensive end Frank Clark and receiver Byron Pringle did not practice Wednesday. Second-year safety Juan Thornhill, who is coming off a torn ACL, was back at Chiefs practice Wednesday for limited work after passing his physical. The team also re-signed WR Marcus Kemp, who's been with the team since 2017, and waived WRs Aleva Hifo and Andre Baccellia.
  • The Tennessee Titans waived seventh-round rookie quarterback Cole McDonald, Pelissero reported, per a source. Tennessee replaced him by signing free-agent QB Trevor Siemian. Siemian most recently played for the Jets and missed most of last season with a broken ankle. Tennessee also signed tight end Geoff Swaim, running back Marcus Marshall and receiver Krishawn Hogan and waived RB Dayln Dawkins, WR Kyle Williams and TE Parker Hesse.
  • The New York Giants officially signed kicker Graham Gano and placed wide receiver Cody Core (torn Achilles tendon) on injured reserve. Gano is receiving a one-year deal worth up to $2.5 million, including $1 million guaranteed and $250K worth of incentives.
  • Arizona Cardinals receiver DeAndre Hopkins returned to practice Wednesday after missing a few sessions due to a hamstring issue. Coach Kliff Kingsbury said of Hopkins' return, per reporters: "It's definitely a positive. He's been chomping at the bit to get back out there. We're going to be start, bring him along slowly. ... Today was a good start and we're going to ease him back into it." Per the transaction wire, Arizona hosted free-agent cornerback Ken Crawley, who was released by the Raiders on Tuesday and played for the Dolphins in 2019. Rapoport later reported, via an informed source, that the Cards are expected to sign Crawley, pending physical and COVID-19 test results.
  • Denver Broncos tight ends Noah Fant (illness) and Nick Vannett (concussion protocol) and cornerback Davontae Harris (knee) did not practice Wednesday.
  • The Chicago Bears have agreed to terms with former Vikings and Colts wideout Rodney Adams, Pelissero reported, per an informed source. A fifth-rounder with the Vikes in 2017, Adams retired in 2018 after signing a reserve/future contract in Indy. He was reinstated in January.
  • The Green Bay Packers released tackle Travis Bruffy and wide receiver Travis Fulgham. The club activated long snapper Hunter Bradley and linebacker Greg Roberts from the reserve/COVID-19 list.
  • Miami Dolphins linebacker Vince Biegel, who tore his Achilles on Tuesday, was placed on injured reserve, the team announced Wednesday. Biegel is coming off a career season in 2019 in which he started 10 games for Miami. The team also placed linebacker Sam Eguavoen on the reserve/COVID-19 list.
  • The Cleveland Browns worked out four four kickers: Nick Folk, Kai Forbath, Matthew McCrane and Cody Parkey. The team also moved defensive end George Obinna to the reserve/injured list, per the wire. Obinna was waived/injured on Tuesday.
  • The New Orleans Saints waived injured defensive back Tino Ellis and signed tight end Ethan Wolf, per the wire.
