Vikings' Kirk Cousins already a fan of Garrett Bradbury

With a tucked-in shirt work ethic, well-regarded intelligence for the position and first-round talent, center Garrett Bradbury has quickly garnered supporters in Minnesota.

In particular is perhaps the guy Bradbury needs support from the most -- his quarterback Kirk Cousins.

"He tucks his shirt in every day," Cousins said via the Pioneer Press. "I think that sends a message right there. He is ready to work. I respect that.

"He is a smart kid. I look forward to him being here a long time."

Perhaps most telling is Cousins' first-time, long-time comments.

Following nothing but voluntary workouts, the quarterback already likes what he sees from Bradbury to the point he hopes he's a staple in the starting lineup for autumns to come.

It's a heck of an endorsement, premature as it might be.

Still, Bradbury will need to show what he has against live competition and the relationship, though off to a pleasant beginning, must continue to form. And Bradbury realizes that.

"He's been awesome," the center said of his quarterback. "Just need to continue to build that rapport and continue to build the continuity in the offensive line room."

Following 13 2018 starts at center for the Vikings, Pat Elflein has moved to guard. So the road is open for Bradbury to excel.

Taken 18th overall, the 6-foot-3, 300-pound plus lineman spent five years at North Carolina State and at 23 is showing maturity already for a rookie.

"You have to have good people to win. If a guy is a great athlete and not a great person, eventually it is going to catch up with him," Cousins said. "As much as there may be some growing pains along the way to get to where we want to be, that's OK as long as we can have that continuity. Hopefully, Garrett will be the guy for a long time."
