Shilique Calhoun leads 7 additions to Senior Bowl roster

If Michigan State defensive end Shilique Calhoun didn't want this play to be remembered as one of his last in a college uniform, he has another chance to make a final impression.

The All-Big Ten pass rusher has accepted an invitation to play in the Reese's Senior Bowl in Mobile, Ala., giving the annual all-star game another high-profile name as it narrows the field for two 55-man rosters. Six other players accepted invitations as well: Penn State DL Austin Johnson, Michigan State WR Aaron Burbridge, Duke K Ross Martin, West Virginia DB K.J. Dillon, TCU RB Aaron Green and Ohio State DB Tyvis Powell.

Calhoun (6-foot-5, 250 pounds) had an outstanding senior year for the Spartans with 15 tackles for loss, 10.5 sacks and 18 quarterback hurries. He was selected first-team All-Big Ten in each of his three years as a starter, and was a two-time team captain. He joins an impressive group of defensive linemen that have committed to play in the Senior Bowl, including Notre Dame's Sheldon Day, Penn State's Carl Nassib, Baylor's Shawn Oakman and Ohio State's Adolphus Washington.

Burbridge was the Spartans' leading receiver this year with 85 catches for 1,258 yards and seven touchdowns. Johnson and Powell are fourth-year juniors in terms of NCAA eligibility, but are eligible for the Senior Bowl as graduates that have already announced they intend to enter the 2016 NFL Draft.

The Senior Bowl will kick off at 2:30 p.m. ET on Jan. 30. NFL Network (complete broadcast schedule) will have exclusive coverage of the event.
