Seahawks QB Geno Smith (knee/hip) not dealing with any significant damage

The prognosis on Geno Smith's imaging came back positive for the Seattle Seahawks.

Tests on Smith's knee didn't show any significant damage, NFL Network Insiders Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero reported Friday.

Smith, who was rolled up on in practice this week, is dealing with general soreness and should be fine moving forward, Pelissero reported. Smith missed Friday's practice, however, as he's getting tests done on his hip, Rapoport reported.

The back-to-back Pro Bowler missed consecutive practices this week, which led to medical tests on Thursday and Friday.

With Smith sidelined, Sam Howell has taken first-team reps, with free-agent addition P.J. Walker taking backup reps.

Smith's test results signal an avoidance of significant injury, but expect Seattle to play it cautious with its starter even as the Seahawks install a new offense.

In 32 starts over the past two seasons, Smith has completed 67.4% of his passes for 7,906 yards, 50 touchdowns, and 20 interceptions.
