The Eagles have bolstered their secondary once again.
Philadelphia is acquiring two-time Pro Bowl cornerback Jaire Alexander and a 2027 seventh-round pick from the Ravens in exchange for a 2026 sixth-round selection, the teams announced on Saturday afternoon.
In a rare Saturday in-season trade, Eagles general manager Howie Roseman continues to make moves to upgrade his 18th-ranked scoring defense. It marks the third trade during the 2025 NFL season for the Eagles. Philadelphia acquired running back Tank Bigsby from the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sept. 8. Roseman's second trade was for another veteran cornerback, Michael Carter II, from the Jets just a couple days ago.
After seven seasons with the Green Bay Packers, Alexander's stint in Baltimore was a short one. He signed with the Ravens on June 18 to reunite with former Louisville teammate Lamar Jackson. However, the veteran corner only appeared in two games for the Ravens as he dealt with a knee injury at the beginning of the season and in later weeks was a healthy scratch -- including in Thursday night's win over the Dolphins.
Alexander played 61 snaps and made five tackles for the Ravens. In the past, Alexander was known to be a lockdown corner when healthy, able to slow an opposing team's top receiver. But the end of his tenure in Green Bay was defined by injuries, and he again struggled with his health while proving not to be a fit in Baltimore.
The Eagles trading for Alexander and Carter within a few days is uncommon, but with the team on its bye week, Roseman has been calling clubs around the NFL before the Nov. 4 trade deadline to improve the 53-man roster in Philly.
It's possible Roseman's maneuvering isn't done, either. NFL Network's Cameron Wolfe reported Saturday that the Eagles are interested in trading for Dolphins linebacker Jaelan Phillips at the right price, per sources.
For now, Alexander is the latest trade addition.
He was initially set to play his first team, the Packers, in Week 17 as a member of the Ravens.
With Alexander joining the Eagles that opportunity could come earlier. He has just over a week to get ready to square off against the Packers at Lambeau Field on Monday Night Football in Week 10.
