Ravens DB Kyle Hamilton 'not in a rush' for new contract entering Year 4

Following consecutive Pro Bowl seasons, Baltimore Ravens defensive back Kyle Hamilton is in line for a contract extension. The 2022 first-round pick, however, isn't fretting the process.

"Obviously, it would be my first one, so not too much, but haven't had too many talks about it, to be honest," Hamilton said Monday, via the team's official transcript. "They're busy with Draft stuff and all that stuff going on. I'm not in a big rush, so if it happens, it happens. Cool. And if it happens this offseason, [that's] cool, too, but I'm not in a rush to get it done necessarily."

Hamilton enters Year 4 as one of the most versatile defensive backs. He proved his worth last season, shifting from a slot role to mainly safety to secure a problem area in the Ravens' secondary.

Baltimore still has the fifth-year option for 2026 at its disposal and the potential franchise tag if it comes to that in 2027.

Hamilton noted that he'd like to resolve his contract situation before the season starts so he can focus on football, but it's not top-of-mind.

"Yes, I would like to. I don't really worry about outside stuff during the season," he said. "That's been [my mindset] since high school, honestly, whatever it may be, and this is obviously a different beast. But yes, I kind of just want to be able to play football and focus on that, and if that stuff is going on during season, then that's what I have agents for, so they'll do a good job with that. That's such a hypothetical at this point, that I'll just cross that bridge when I get there."

Hamilton is one of several Ravens veterans who have earned new deals. The Derrick Henry situation looms, and Baltimore has already admitted that Lamar Jackson's deal will have to be redone at some point. With the draft kicking off on Thursday, the Ravens' attention is on adding to the roster. Afterward, the front office can focus on locking down their draft hits, like Hamilton, for the long term.
