All the losing in New York built up for star defensive tackle Quinnen Williams, whose six-plus seasons with the Jets didn't include a single winning campaign.
After Tuesday's trade to the Cowboys, the three-time Pro Bowler didn't mask his frustration at all the losing. He is ready to finally start winning in Dallas.
"As an ultra-competitor, I think anybody who's going through many, many losses like I was going through, there's going to be frustration," he said Wednesday, via the Dallas Morning News. "I know guys who go they whole life and they lose one game, they be frustrated. So, of course, I was frustrated, but the relationship that I had with [coach Aaron Glenn], the relationship with the GM Darren [Mougey], there, man, there's still great relationships. They knew I was frustrated. I think the world knew I was frustrated being there so long and still losing."
In Williams' six full seasons in New York, the Jets didn't generated more than seven wins in a single campaign. From 2019 through 2024, Gang Green went 32-68. The Jets are 1-7 to open 2025, jumpstarting Tuesday's fire sale in which they traded stars Williams and Sauce Gardner for a trove of draft picks.
Brought to the Cowboys to help turn around a woeful defense, Williams is ready to finally get on the winning train.
"Yeah, I'm hungry to win," Williams said. "I'm hungry to win. That's the main thing. Like I said in the beginning, I'm an ultimate competitor, man. Everything I do is about winning. Everything I do, everything I work when I wake up, man, I just want to win. So that kind of forms my ego of I can do anything the coaches [want] me to do if it's going to get us a win."
The Cowboys sit at 3-5-1 with games against the Raiders, Eagles, Chiefs and Lions on tap following a Week 10 bye.
