Until we're able to inject Seahawks coach Pete Carroll with some truth serum, we'll never know how Seattle's final offensive play went down.
In the meantime, Carroll will continue to defend his offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell.
"It's not about Darrell," Carroll said in an interview with KIRO-AM in Seattle on Tuesday. "Darrell did what I told him to do. I told him to throw it."
After Sunday's Super Bowl loss, Carroll immediately took the blame upon himself. So did Russell Wilson for throwing the pass. Bevell did say he called the play, but ultimately allowed some of the blame to trickle down onto receiver Ricardo Lockette, an immensely unpopular move.
Still, Carroll's continued defense of Bevell will be an offseason storyline to keep an eye on. For a coach who counts harmony above anything else in his locker room, will his impassioned plea change based on Bevell's personal reaction? Will Carroll be forced to hear his players out on this one?
The call itself isn't going away anytime soon. We'll have to see if the stories remain the same.
