Nico Collins on Texans WR corps: 'I feel like we could be dangerous'

Texans star Nico Collins is giddy about the revamped receiver corps in Houston.

"I feel like we could be dangerous, man," Collins told Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 during a charity event. "I feel we all just go out there and be us. That's the main important thing, is go out and be you. Don't make the moment bigger than what it is and go out just have fun. Make plays for the team and that's what we're doing for sure."

The Texans revamped their receiver room this offseason. Notably, Stefon Diggs departed for New England in free agency, Tank Dell remains sidelined due to a late-season knee injury, and John Metchie III was traded to Philadelphia during the preseason. New additions to the wideout group include veteran slot receiver Christian Kirk and rookie draft picks Jayden Higgins and Jaylin Noel, with Xavier Hutchinson returning and showing improvement.

Collins is the key to the unit. He led Houston with 68 catches for 1,006 yards and seven touchdowns despite missing five games due to a hamstring injury. He finished fourth in the NFL with 83.8 receiving yards per game.

Collins got off to a scorching start last year, leading the league with 113.4 receiving yards per game in Weeks 1-5.

At this stage, the 26-year-old believes his chemistry with quarterback C.J. Stroud is flawless.

"It's like taking candy from a baby," Collins told Wilson in a previous interview. "It's bread and butter. It's only right for us to continue to grow, continue to find the timing and continue to work on our craft.

"You can't get comfortable. I feel like that's one thing you can't do in this league is get comfortable. I feel like for us, me and him, continue to grow as a unit as an offense and continue to click. Everybody, that's our goal."

The Texans offense underwent significant changes this offseason, from the wide receiver corps to the overhauled offensive line, to the change in coordinators, and to the shuffling of running backs following Joe Mixon's foot injury. The only real constant is the Stroud-Collins connection. Houston will need that duo to hit the ground running if they're to get off to a hot start against the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday.
