Nate Boyer, former Green Beret, cut by Seahawks

Training camp season is full of heartbreaking cuts, but on Tuesday we learned of one in particular that hit close to home.

Nate Boyer, the 34-year-old rookie long snapper for the Seattle Seahawks, was let go, the team announced. The move was first reported by FOX Sports' Jay Glazer.

The former Green Beret taught himself the craft while overseas and signed with Seattle immediately following the 2015 draft.

Seattle needed to make room for quarterback Jake Waters, who will momentarily spell the injured Tarvaris Jackson.

Though it's a setback, we don't expect this to be the last time we hear from Boyer.

Per FOX Sports, he handled the cut better than Seattle Seahawks general manager John Schneider did.

As we've seen in the past, anything can happen as injuries mount and rosters shuffle during the waning weeks of training camp. There's a chance Boyer isn't done just yet.
