ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- One more day to go at the East-West Shrine Game practices with Day 3 behind us. I saw some things on Wednesday that surprised me, in a good way, that will force me to go re-watch some of these guys on tape. Here are some players who stood out to me on Wednesday:
Taylor McNamara, TE, USC
McNamara had a really good day. He caught a nice up-and-out route and had a touchdown catch in traffic in the red-zone drill.
Zach Terrell, QB, Western Michigan
Terrell was the quarterback on both of the throws to McNamara. He doesn't have a big arm and he's not a big kid, but he's kind of an anticipatory thrower, which I really like. He threw the stick-nod to the tight end down the field and he also put it in the end zone in a place where only McNamara could catch it.
DeAngelo Yancey, WR, Purdue
He had a really good practice in the morning session. They did a red-zone, man-to-man drill with wideouts vs. cornerbacks and safeties, and he went undefeated. He won with strength and power, but he also won with some quickness, which surprised me. I didn't necessarily see that on tape. He really caught my eye in that red-zone drill.
Richie Brown, LB, Mississippi State
I've been tracking him all week long and he keeps doing good things; he's had a good week here. He's been solid against the run and a little better against the pass than what I saw on tape. He's helped himself.

Jack Tocho, CB, North Carolina State
He's a long corner who competes -- a very aggressive kid. He's flashed this week and keeps catching my eye.
Nate Hairston, CB, Temple
I mentioned him in my report on Tuesday, and I keep coming back to him. The Temple players always compete at a very high level. I think it's because they feel under-recruited and come in with an edge, and the coaching staff there knows how to use that as motivation. They might not always have the perfect NFL traits but they have an edge to them that I like. Three of them got drafted last year, not very high, but they all played and played well as rookies. And LB Tyler Matakevich, taken by Pittsburgh in the final round, is still playing. They all love to compete, and Hairston reminds me of those three in that regard.
Gabe Marks, WR, Washington State
I continue to be impressed with this slot receiver. He runs very crisp routes and has good hands. He had a big catch down the sideline in team drills on a deep route. He's been fun to watch this week.
Jeremiah Ledbetter and Deatrich Wise, DEs, Arkansas
Both of these Razorback defensive ends have impressed me this week and are interesting prospects. They both have length, size and NFL traits. They're going to force me to go back and do more homework on them.
