Marcus Mariota, Kirk Cousins among Players of Month

And just like that, the third month of NFL football is in the books. A couple of quarterbacks have led their teams back into the thick of the playoff race and are among the Players of the Month, the NFL announced on Thursday.

Titans quarterback Marcus Mariota was named the AFC Offensive Player of the Month. The former Oregon Duck passed for 1124 yards with 11 touchdowns and just two interceptions in leading Tennessee to a 2-2 record in November, with wins over the Packers and Bears.

Raiders defensive end Khalil Mack earned AFC Defensive Player of the Month honors. Mack terrorized opposing offenses, registering four sacks, two forced fumbles and an interception returned for a touchdown as the Raiders went 3-0 for the month.

The AFC Special Teams Player of the Month was the Chiefs' Cairo Santos. The third-year kicker was a perfect 5-for-5 on PATs and 11-for-11 on field goals -- including an amazing game-winner against the Broncos on Sunday.

In the NFC, Redskins quarterback Kirk Cousins was named the Offensive Player of the Month. In three games in November, Cousins passed for an average of 362 yards per game with eight total touchdowns and no interceptions in leading the Redskins to a 2-1 record.

Giants safety Landon Collins earned NFC Defensive Player of the Month honors. The former Alabama product registered 30 tackles, a sack and three interceptions in helping New York to a perfect 4-0 record last month.

The NFC Special Teams Player of the Month was the Lions' Matt Prater. The 10th-year kicker was a perfect 8-for-8 on field goals -- with two over 50 yards -- as the Lions went 3-0 to take the NFC North lead.

Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott was named the Offensive Rookie of the Month while Buccaneers defensive end Noah Spence earned honors on the defensive side. Prescott has the Cowboys sitting atop the NFC East while Spence had 2.5 sacks and two forced fumbles last month.
