The New York Jets are entering a fresh start with a new head coach and general manager.
Many from the outside might think the Jets in Year 1 under Aaron Glenn and Darren Mougey are entering a rebuild. Veteran running back Breece Hall believes the new regime along with the offseason additions to the roster could deliver winning results in 2025.
"I think people think the new coaching staff and new GM means a rebuild, but we have a lot of really good players on the roster, so we're trying to win now," Hall said, via the team website. "And I think a lot of people from the outside are going to take that for granted and not realize that we actually have a team."
Hall, a 2022 second-round draft pick out of Iowa State, has not been on a winning Jets team since he was selected by former Jets coach Robert Saleh and GM Joe Douglas.
In Hall's first two seasons, New York had multiple starting quarterbacks but the 2024 campaign saw Aaron Rodgers play all 17 regular-season games. The offseason has brought a new signal-caller Justin Fields to Gang Green and Rodgers joined the Pittsburgh Steelers. New York hopes Fields could be the answer at QB after the Jets locked him in for a two-year contract.
Heading into his fourth season, Hall will work with Fields and new offensive coordinator Tanner Engstrand. Hall has yet to hit the 1,000-plus rushing yard mark in his career but he knows he has the talent to be one of the best in his position.
"Just proving that I'm still the guy and still one of the best in the league," Hall said. "Just trying to go out there every weekend and prove that I deserve to be out there."
Hall and the Jets could build more chemistry on the field when they report to training camp on July 22.
