Jets acquire veteran DT Harrison Phillips in late-round pick swap with Vikings

The New York Jets are continuing to beef up their defensive interior via the trade market.

New York is acquiring defensive tackle Harrison Phillips from the Minnesota Vikings in exchange for a 2026 sixth-round pick and a 2027 sixth-round selection, NFL Network Insider Tom Pelissero reported. The Jets are also receiving a 2027 seventh-round pick in the deal.

The trade is the second made by the Jets involving a defensive tackle on Wednesday. Earlier, New York added Jowon Briggs in a deal with the Cleveland Browns.

A product of Stanford, Phillips manned the interior in Minnesota from 2022-2024. He arrived to the Vikings via a three-year deal worth $19.5 million in 2022 after spending his first four NFL seasons with the Buffalo Bills.

Phillips has been a steady presence throughout his career, appearing in double-digit games in all but one of his seven NFL seasons and tallying 50-plus tackles in each of his last four campaigns.

He's also ingratiated himself to the communities he's called home, earning consideration for the Walter Payton Man of the Year award three times in his career.

With two years left on an extension signed in 2024, Phillips will join a Jets team aiming to climb into contention in their first year under new coach Aaron Glenn.

For the Vikings, who are in the market to add a veteran wide receiver, they will save some cash in salary cap space this year and the next by trading Phillips.
