Injuries: Donte Moncrief (shoulder) likely to practice

Andrew Luck could be getting one of his primary weapons back soon.

Colts receiver Donte Moncrief is expected to practice on Wednesday -- his first time seeing the field since Week 2. Moncrief fractured his shoulder blade but avoided having surgery.

2015 first-round pick Phillip Dorsett was expected to pick up much of the slack when Moncrief went down, but that hasn't worked out. Star wideout T.Y. Hilton has posted three 100-yard games in Moncrief's absence, but Luck would be happy to find another dependable target back in the huddle.

The Colts are magically just one game out of first place in the wide-open AFC South following the Texans' loss to the Broncos on Monday night. They face an uphill battle the next few weeks with a home matchup against the Chiefs on Sunday, followed by a game at Lambeau against the Packers in Week 9. Any sort of reinforcements before then would be welcomed by Indy.

Here are some other injuries we are tracking on Tuesday:

  1. Texans right tackle Derek Newtontore both his patellar tendons in the first quarter of Monday night's loss to the Broncos. The recovery is expected to be "incredibly long and difficult," according to both NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport and NFL Network's Mike Garafolo.
  1. The plan is for Broncos defensive superstar DeMarcus Ware to practice this week, NFL Network's James Palmer reported. Ware fractured his forearm in a September 18 clash with the Colts. The goal has been not to rush him back with fear of re-breaking it.

Linebacker Brandon Marshall is day to day with a hamstring injury, Palmer reported.

  1. Steelers tight end Ladarius Green is practiced. Green remains on the PUP list and can practice up to 21 days before Pittsburgh must activate him or return him to injured reserve. An ankle injury has kept Green off the field all season thus far. Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger (meniscus) also practiced.
  1. Jaguars defensive tackle Roy Miller tore his right Achilles tendon and will be placed on injured reserve, the team announced. He will undergo surgery later this week.
  1. Ravens linebacker Terrell Suggs is back at practice. The veteran missed Sunday's loss to the Jets with a biceps injury. Guard Marshal Yanda (shoulder) is also practicing.

Baltimore also designated safety Matt Elam to return from injured reserve. Elam injured his knee and had surgery in the preseason.

  1. Chargers defensive tackle Caraun Reid was placed on injured reserve after he injured his ACL in Sunday's big win over the Falcons.
  1. The Cardinals placed wide receiver Jaron Brown (knee) on injured reserve, the team announced.
