Injuries: A.J. Green participating in individual drills

A.J. Green is on his way back from the toe injury that wiped out the end of his 2018 campaign.

The Cincinnati Bengals receiver will participate in individual drills this week during mandatory minicamp, per the team's official website.

He will sit out team drills, but it's a positive step in the right direction.

It's the first organized on-field work with teammates the superstar receiver has undertaken since undergoing toe surgery in December. He played just nine games in 2018 compiling 694 yards and six TDs, which was the first season of his career with fewer than 960 yards.

Entering the final year of his contract, Green is due for an extension. For now, he's just focusing on this next step in his rehab process. Hopefully, he'll be full-go by training camp in late July.

"Everybody says it should be back to normal and it feels good. No setbacks," Green said. "Nothing. No soreness after I run. It just feels good. It's a good thing I just got it fixed. If I finished the season, I would have had to get it fixed anyway. It's good to get back in the swing and get ready for training camp."

Here are other injuries we're monitoring Tuesday:

  1. Indianapolis Colts head coach Frank Reich announced that quarterback Andrew Luck (calf) will not practice this week, meaning the earliest he'll be on the field is training camp in July. Reich said the move is more a precautionary measure and the team is not concerned. Luck also missed OTAs due to the injury.
  1. Philadelphia Eagles running back Miles Sanders will not practice this week during Philly's mandatory minicamp, coach Doug Pederson told reporters Tuesday. The rookie, drafted 53rd overall out of Penn State, has missed the entire offseason program with a hamstring injury.
  1. San Francisco 49ers tackle Mike McGlinchey did not practice due to a minor knee injury. Fellow tackle Joe Staley was limited in practice as he is dealing with a pec strain. Niners tight end Garrett Celek underwent back surgery and is slated to face a two-month recovery. Celek remains in concussion protocol since Week 16 of the 2018 season.
