Giants waive Damontre Moore after fight with Jenkins

The New York Giants are done with Damontre Moore.

The Giants released the defensive end, the team announced Friday. Moore was waived after he got into a fight with teammate Cullen Jenkins before practice, NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported, per a source informed of the situation. According to Rapoport, Moore was upset about not getting free headphones like other players on the team. It was one of several displays of immaturity by Moore and the team decided enough was enough, Rapoport added.

"We made the move today in the interest of both parties," Giants general manager Jerry Reese said in a statement released by the team.

A third-round pick in 2013, Moore was drafted to be a pass-rushing successor, following the likes of Justin Tuck and Osi Umenyiora. However his star never turned.

Moore was a healthy scratch in Week 7 after an egregious roughing the passer penalty -- one in a string of several bone-headed errors this season.

The 23-year-old has started zero games in his career and totaled just 8.5 sacks in less than three seasons with the Giants.
