New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones was ruled out of Sunday's 31-16 loss to the Miami Dolphins due to a neck injury he suffered in the fourth quarter.
Jones told reporters after the game that he had X-rays done on his neck but is still awaiting the results.
"I feel fine, in some pain -- it's a physical game," said Jones, who is scheduled for an MRI on Monday. "(I'll) meet with the doctors and trainers and go from there."
Jones was injured after getting sacked by Dolphins linebacker Andrew Van Ginkel at the 12:45 mark of the final frame. Hit from the blindside, Jones' head and neck whipped back as he sustained Van Ginkel's hit before getting taken to the ground.
Jones went to the locker room under his own power before being officially ruled out. He finished 14-of-20 passing for 119 yards and added 24 rushing yards, and was sacked a total of six times on the day.
With Miami holding a 31-13 lead, Tyrod Taylor immediately entered the game upon Jones' exit and continued a drive that ended with a 51-yard field goal by Graham Gano. Taylor proceeded to lead a 13-play, 74-yard drive on the Giants' next possession, but his fourth-down scramble was three yards short of a first down, which turned the ball over.
Jones' injury adds to the troubles of a Giants team that endured its third straight loss on Sunday. New York entered Week 5 with an offense ranked 31st in yards per game (252.0) and last in points per game (11.5).
