Giants' Apple doubtful, DRC questionable vs. Vikings

Big Blue's secondary is hobbling into Minneapolis.

The Giants will be without two safeties -- Nat Berhe (concussion), Darian Thompson (foot) -- and will likely be missing rookie cornerback Eli Apple (listed as doubtful with a hamstring injury) for their Monday night matchup with the Vikings. Fellow corner Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie is questionable to play with a groin injury after not participating in practice all week.

NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported earlier Saturday that to make up for the injuries on the back end, the Giants are working out four safeties.

Somewhere, Stefon Diggs and Kyle Rudolph are licking their chops at New York's most recent injury report.

Meanwhile, running back Rashad Jennings' prospects look good as he is listed as questionable after being limited in practice this week.

Here are the other injuries we're monitoring Saturday:

  1. Dez Bryant is traveling with the Cowboys to the Bay Area. Bryant is listed as questionable to play with a knee injury, but is a "major long-shot" to play, per Rapoport. Still, Bryant traveling with the team means he at least has a chance to get on the field.
  1. The Vikings are a healthy bunch. Besides defensive tackle Sharrif Floyd and backup tight end David Morgan, who are out for Monday, no players are listed on the injury report. Guard Alex Boone (hip) missed the first practice of the week, but has been a full participant since and will play against the Giants.
  1. The Browns placed second-year linebacker Nate Orchard on injured reserve after he suffered an ankle injury last week against the Dolphins. Cleveland also added linebacker Corey Lemonier to the injury report; he is doubtful to play against the Redskins for personal reasons.
