Following eight seasons and 5,500 yards from scrimmage, Kenyan Drake is calling it a career.
Drake, a running back whose most notable seasons were with the Miami Dolphins and Arizona Cardinals, announced his retirement Friday afternoon.
"Hard to believe 8 seasons have come and gone," Drake wrote on Instagram. "I've loved the journey - the wins, the moments big and small, the (camaraderie), the energy, all of it. I can't say I loved everything (if you've ever done training camp in Miami you can relate lol), but certainly appreciate the lows and the grind, and know those moments grew me as a football player and more importantly as a person. Ready to enjoy a little retirement and see where the next chapter takes me. Thanks to everyone that was along for the ride with me - wouldn't change a thing."
In total, Drake played eight NFL seasons with the first three-plus coming as a member of the Dolphins, who selected him in the third round of the 2016 NFL Draft. He was then traded to the Cardinals during the 2019 season and played his best ball. In 2020 with Arizona, Drake rushed for a career-high 955 yards and 10 touchdowns.
He moved on to play for the Raiders, Ravens and Packers, splitting time as a member of the latter two squads last season along with short stints for the Indianapolis Colts and Cleveland Browns.
For his career, Drake, a solid dual threat, rushed for 3,866 yards and 33 touchdowns, with another 1,655 yards and 8 TDs coming on catches.
