The Miami Dolphins began cutting veterans early this week.
The Dolphins released veteran right tackle Jordan Mills with an injury settlement, the team announced Tuesday.
Mills, who the Dolphins signed this offseason from Buffalo, started the team's first preseason game, but struggled on a porous Miami offensive line before missing time with an undisclosed injury.
The Dolphins also released veteran tight end Clive Walford with an injury settlement.
Both Mills and Walford are expected to have short-term recovery timeframes, giving them a shot to latch on elsewhere when healthy.
In addition, the team announced it waived/injured linebacker Chase Allen and released veteran defensive tackle Akeem Spence. Spence started 16 games for the Dolphins in 2018.

- Atlants Falcons coach Dan Quinn said, barring an objection from team doctors, he intends to play right tackleKaleb McGary in Atlanta's final preseason game against Jacksonville. "He had an awesome week," Quinn said. "I know that he's excited. I'm excited to see him go, too."
The 2019 first-round pick underwent a cardiac heart ablation procedure on July 31 and has yet to play in the preseason. McGary, who claimed about half the first-team snaps before the procedure, has been full-go in practice since Sunday.
- Tennessee Titans running back Derrick Henry told reporters he'll be ready for Tennessee's season opener against the Browns. Henry has been limited by a calf injury since training camp.
- The Baltimore Ravens signed defensive back Fish Smithson, who has primarily been on practice squads the past two years but appeared in two games in 2017 with the Redskins.
- The Kansas City Chiefs signed quarterback Matt Moore and placed fullback John Lovett on injured reserve. Coach Andy Reid said Moore won't play in the final preseason game vs. the Packers, according to the Kansas City Star. He'll let Chase Litton and Kyle Shurmur each take a half.
- The Cleveland Browns released wide receiver Jaelen Strong.
- The Minnesota Vikings released cornerback Bene Benwikere and wide receiver Jordan Taylor.
- The Detroit Lions signed free-agent quarterback Luis Perez. They released quarterback David Fales and running back Zach Zenner, who'd been with the team for four seasons.
- Buffalo Bills coach Sean McDermott told reporters that center Mitch Morseis progressing but remains in the concussion protocol. McDermott noted the veteran starter has been present for 11-on-11 periods.
- Indianapolis Colts coach Frank Reich told reporters wide receiver Parris Campbell (hamstring) practiced Monday and there's a good chance he plays Thursday versus the Bengals. Campbell has been sidelined since the first week of training camp.
- Denver Broncos coach Vic Fangio said he thinks right guard Ronald Leary (Achilles) will be able to play in Denver's season opener.
"He's been improving with some of this time off he's been getting," Fangio said. "I think he'll be ready."
Fangio said tight end Jake Butt won't practice or play this week. After returnign to the playong field Saturday following a third ACl injury, Butt is dealing with knee soreness and might be out for some time.
- Houston Texans wide receiver Keke Coutee is unlikely to play in Houston's season opener against the Saints because of a sprained ankle, coach Bill O'Brien told reporters.
- New York Giants coach Pat Shurmur said wide receiver Alex Wesley is dealing with an ankle issue, while left tackle Nate Solder was excused from practice for personal reasons.
- The Pittsburgh Steelers claimed cornerback Jhavonte Dean off waivers.
- Arizona Cardinals coach Kliff Kingsbury told reporters linebacker Haason Reddick returned to practice Tuesday but was limited. Reddick had his meniscus trimmed in July, and Kingsbury said he still isn't sure if the former first-rounder will be available for Week 1.
- Dallas Cowboys coach Jason Garrett doesn't anticipate La'el Collins doing much in practice Tuesday, but the belief is the offensive tackle will be ready for Week 1.
- The Philadelphia Eagles signed safety Jason Thompson and waived Tre Sullivan, the team announced.
- The Chicago Bears placed tackle T.J. Clemmings (quad) on injured reserve.
- San Francisco 49ers running back Jerrick McKinnon (knee) returned to practice Tuesday but receivers Trent Taylor and Jalen Hurd were unavailable. Taylor (foot) is "highly unlikely" to play Week 1, coach Kyle Shanahan said Tuesday, while Hurd (back) is a question mark for the season opener.
Second-year defensive lineman Kentavius Street will undergo a knee scope on Friday. Shanahan said Street will most likely end up on season-ending injured reserve.
