Kliff Kingsbury is headed back west.
The Los Angeles Rams are adding the former Washington Commanders offensive coordinator to Sean McVay's coaching staff, NFL Network Insider Tom Pelissero reported Friday. Kingsbury's title in L.A. is to be determined.
Kingsbury spent two seasons as OC in Washington before the two sides mutually agreed to part ways after the 2025 season.
In 2026, the 46-year-old coach will return to the NFC West, where he was a former rival of McVay as head coach of the Arizona Cardinals from 2019-2022.
The Rams led the league in offense this past season, generating a league-high 394.6 yards and 30.5 points per game. L.A. is poised to remain on top in 2026 after Matthew Stafford said Thursday during his acceptance speech upon winning the 2025 AP NFL Most Valuable Player award at NFL Honors that he will return for an 18th season.
Along with Stafford, the Rams return a stellar wide receiving duo in Puka Nacua and Davante Adams while also boasting an effective running back duo in Kyren Williams and Blake Corum, who are all under contract through 2026.
Kingsbury's offensive mind should only boost McVay's staff, which was chock full of head coaching candidates in this year's hiring cycle, including former OC Mike LaFleur, who was hired as head coach of the Cardinals last week.
After emerging as the head coach of his alma mater at Texas Tech, Kingsbury made a splash in Arizona, assisting Kyler Murray's rise in the NFL. He was also instrumental in Jayden Daniels' incredible rookie season which ended with an Offensive Rookie of the Year award and an appearance in the NFC title game in 2024.
Kingsbury, who interviewed for a number of OC and head coaching jobs the past few weeks, will bring his offensive mind to the Rams' sideline in 2026.
