Injuries are stacking up for the Philadelphia Eagles, but relatively speaking, there is some fortunate news on that front.
Running back Saquon Barkley, injured Sunday in the team's loss to the Los Angeles, is considered week to week with a hamstring injury, NFL Network Insiders Mike Garafolo and Ian Rapoport reported Monday night.
Barkley's injury, which led to him exiting Week 3 in the first quarter, is not considered a long-term issue, the Insiders reported. Considering the week-to-week status, Barkley's availability for Philadelphia's Week 5 game in London against the Jacksonville Jaguars is in question.
Regardless if Barkley plays or not in Week 5, the Eagles' RB room is unwell.
Barkley is dealing with a hamstring injury and his backup, Tank Bigsby, is undergoing core muscle surgery and headed for injured reserve, Garafolo reported earlier Monday.
Currently, Will Shipley is the only other running back on the Eagles' active roster. There are no backs on the team's practice squad, either.
In portions of four games this season, Barkley has rushed for an underwhelming 182 yards on 36 carries, but is averaging 5.1 yards per attempt. He's yet to score on the ground or through the air, and has just four receptions for eight yards.
The Eagles' offense ranks 15th in the league in rushing yards and 29th in total yards.
Following two straight losses, the Eagles are 2-2 and dealing with injuries to wide receiver DeVonta Smith, Quinyon Mitchell and Jonathan Greenard, among others.
The Barkley update isn't as bad as it could be and, right now, Philadelphia could use any kind of positive news.
