James Bradberry made the Philadelphia Eagles' initial 53-man roster but suffered an injury that will knock him out for more than a month.
NFL Network Insiders Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero reported Thursday that Bradberry suffered a lower leg injury during Wednesday's practice and the recovery timeline is approximately six to eight weeks, per sources informed of the situation.
With the injury involving a tendon, surgery isn't required, per Rapoport and Pelissero.
The injury is a blow to the Eagles' depth.
Bradberry moved to safety this offseason after struggles in 2023 at corner. He made the initial 53-man roster as a reserve behind Chauncey Gardner-Johnson and Reed Blankenship.
Upon keeping the veteran on the roster, general manager Howie Roseman cited Bradberry's leadership and versatility -- i.e. he could shift back to corner in a pinch while also playing safety. That plan is out the window to open the season.
Given the expected recovery timetable, Bradberry was placed on injured reserve on Thursday, knocking him out at least four games.
