Colts center Khaled Holmes limps off with ankle injury

The Indianapolis Colts couldn't make it through their first preseason possession without an injury.

Starting center Khaled Holmes limped off the field Thursday after sustaining an ankle injury against the New York Jets. He was replaced in the lineup by Jonotthan Harrison, an undrafted free agent out of Florida, and did not return to the game.

Harrison short-circuited the Colts' first possession when he snapped the ball past Andrew Luck on third-and-5 at the Jets' 5. The Colts settled for an Adam Vinatieri field goal. Indianapolis went on to lose 13-10.

The Colts entered the game with concerns on the interior of their line after guard Donald Thomas tore his quad last week and was lost for the season.

Indianapolis lost another offensive lineman early in the second quarter when rookie right tackle Ulrick John suffered an apparent leg injury. John needed to be helped off the field by two trainers.
