San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy is in line for a massive extension in 2025.
Famously the final pick of the 2022 NFL Draft, Purdy has played for peanuts through three years. His base salary in 2024 was $985,000, a comical number for a starting quarterback, in which salaries have ballooned, with nine making $50-plus million per season.
"It's my first time going through this all," Purdy said Monday, via the San Francisco Standard. "I don't really know what the next step is. But we'll see. Obviously, I'd like to get it done sooner rather than later, just so I can come back to work and get going with all the guys here.
"I'm not really sure what it's all going to look like or entail. But I know that I'm the guy for this organization, and I can do what it takes to help lead us to where we want to go."
Purdy helped the Niners make deep postseason runs in his first two seasons before an injury-ravaged 2024 left San Francisco at 6-11 outside of the playoffs.
Regardless of the down season for the franchise, Purdy has shown enough to earn a raise. The 25-year-old would like to get it out of the way so he can participate in the offseason program without issue.
"I want to get it done quick. Just so we can get back for Phase 1, get after it with our receivers and our team," he said, via David Lombardi of The Standard. "... I'm not the kind of guy that wants to have any kind of drama associated with anything."
San Francisco hasn't been an organization that has done deals early. Famously, in 2024, the Brandon Aiyuk deal dragged on throughout the summer. Similar timetables in the past for Deebo Samuel, George Kittle and others have taken up entire offseasons.
Purdy doesn't sound like he's gearing up to nickel-and-dime the Niners for every penny, pushing to reset the QB market above Dak Prescott's $60 million-per-year contract. Given that he's made under $1 million per year in base salary for three years, regardless of where his new deal lands, it will be a big boost for the signal-caller.
"For me, at the end of the day, I want to win. I want to win for this organization and everybody here," Purdy said. "I'm not the kind of guy that wants to have any kind of drama with anything. I'm here for this organization, for my teammates in the locker room. And I want to be very professional about it."
