Bills WR Gabe Davis suffered torn ACL in playoff win over Jaguars

Another injury has hit the Bills' receiving corps.

Veteran wideout Gabe Davis suffered a torn ACL in Buffalo's Wild Card Round win over Jacksonville, head coach Sean McDermott announced on Monday.

Davis suffered a season-ending knee injury in his first and only season with the Jaguars in 2024 and began 2025 on Buffalo's practice squad while continuing to recover, eventually making his first appearance in a mid-November win over Tampa Bay. He played in six regular-season games (five starts), catching 12 passes for 129 yards and a touchdown before hauling in two passes for 14 yards in Sunday's playoff triumph.

The 26-year-old receiver's injury is the third significant blow to the Bills' receiving room. Josh Palmer and Curtis Samuel are also currently on injured reserve, leaving Buffalo with only four healthy receivers: Brandin Cooks, Khalil Shakir, Tyrell Shavers and former 33rd-overall pick Keon Coleman.

Samuel, however, is expected to return to practice this week, per McDermott.

The Bills could promote one of their two practice squad receivers in Mecole Hardman and Stephen Gosnell or look elsewhere for a reinforcement. Hardman has already been elevated to the active roster this season, appearing in a win over Tampa Bay before a calf injury required him to spend a month on injured reserve. He returned to the field for another game just before Christmas, playing two special teams snaps against Cleveland before the Bills released him on Dec. 27.

Buffalo re-signed him to the practice squad on Dec. 30, where he's remained since then. Hardman has extensive postseason experience from six seasons spent in Kansas City -- including catching the game-winning touchdown in Super Bowl LVIII -- making him the most logical replacement for the Bills' current predicament.

Buffalo faces the top-seeded Denver Broncos in the Divisional Round on Saturday.
