Arthur Smith expected to become next offensive coordinator at Ohio State

Arthur Smith is headed back to college.

The former Pittsburgh Steelers offensive coordinator is expected to become the next OC at Ohio State, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported on Saturday.

Smith spent the past two seasons as Mike Tomlin's offensive coordinator in Pittsburgh after a three-year stint as Atlanta Falcons head coach.

Smith had garnered interest in the NFL's head coaching cycle this year, interviewing for HC roles with the Cardinals and Titans. He also interviewed for the offensive coordinator position with the Lions and Chargers.

Instead, Smith will head to one of the perennial contenders in college football. Ohio State won the College Football Playoff National Championship last year and reached the quarterfinals this past season.
