Anthony Richardson (shoulder) expects to be ready for Colts training camp in July

Indianapolis quarterback Anthony Richardson's pivotal 2025 season encountered a hurdle when a shoulder issue forced him out of minicamp, placing him on an uncertain path approaching training camp in July.

Colts head coach Shane Steichen declined to provide a firm timetable when speaking on the matter in early June. But according to Richardson, he'll be just fine, telling 247 Sports' Zach Goodall on Sunday he expects to be ready for training camp.

"I'm all good ... not really even a bump in the road," Richardson told Goodall after Richardson appeared at multiple community events in Gainesville, Florida. "I feel like I tripped, I fell. Just got back up and hit the ground running again."

Indianapolis can explain Richardson's absence as a precautionary measure, preventing him from piling up additional wear and tear on a shoulder that has already been through plenty in his pro career, especially during an offseason period that isn't essential. It's largely the stance Steichen took when announcing Richardson wouldn't participate in minicamp.

But Daniel Jones' arrival in free agency has increased the pressure on Richardson to prove he's the Colts' best option under center, and any interruption to his offseason understandably causes concern. Without a firm return date, it's fair to expect Jones might gain an advantage over Richardson in their looming competition for the starting job.

As the calendar creeps toward July, Richardson remains positive. It's all he can do while he works toward returning fully healthy. Hopefully for him and the Colts, they've already cleared the most significant bump in the road.

Colts veterans report for training camp on July 22.
