2023 NFL season, Week 5: Notable injuries, news from Sunday's games

Here are the injuries and news we're monitoring around the league on this Week 5 Sunday:

  • Arizona Cardinals running back James Conner suffered a knee injury versus the Bengals and the team will know more on Conner's status Monday, per head coach Jonathan Gannon. Cornerback Antonio Hamilton was evaluated for a concussion and did not return.
  • Baltimore Ravens right tackle Patrick Mekari (chest) did not return versus the Steelers.
  • Buffalo Bills linebacker Matt Milano is likely out for the season after breaking his leg and suffering a knee injury in Sunday's loss to the Jaguars, NFL Network Insiders Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo reported. Milano was injured in the first quarter and carted from the sideline to the locker room. Defensive tackle DaQuan Jones (pec) did not return due to injury.
  • Carolina Panthers guard Chandler Zavala, who suffered a neck injury in Sunday's game versus the Lions, was discharged from the local hospital and is traveling home with the team.
  • Dallas Cowboys returner KaVontae Turpin was ruled out against the 49ers due to an ankle injury. Linebacker Leighton Vander Esch left Sunday's game with a neck injury.
  • Denver Broncos defensive tackle D.J. Jones (knee) did not return in Sunday's game versus the Jets.
  • Detroit Lions cornerback Emmanuel Moseley (knee) was ruled out versus the Panthers.
  • Houston Texans wide receiver Tank Dell was evaluated for a concussion and did not return in the game versus the Falcons.
  • Indianapolis Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson suffered an AC joint sprain in his right throwing shoulder during Sunday's game, NFL Network Insider Tom Pelissero reported. Tight end Mo Alie-Cox was evaluated for a concussion and did not return.
  • Jacksonville Jaguars left guard Walker Little (knee) and wide receiver Zay Jones (knee) did not return against the Bills.
  • Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce suffered a low-ankle sprain based on the initial diagnosis after Sunday's win over the Vikings, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported.
  • Miami Dolphins offensive tackle Isaiah Wynn (neck) did not return versus the Giants.
  • Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson suffered a hamstring injury versus the Chiefs and it's "still very early" to determine the severity, per head coach Kevin O'Connell.
  • New England Patriots wide receiver Demario Douglas (head) did not return in Sunday's game versus the Saints. Wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster (head) did not return. Offensive lineman Mike Onwenu (ankle) did not return. Linebacker Ja'Whaun Bentley (shoulder) did not return.
  • New Orleans Saints wide receiver Chris Olave was dealing with a toe issue pregame before Sunday's game versus the Patriots, per head coach Dennis Allen. Olave made it through the entire game without any issues, Allen added.
  • New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones will have an MRI on his neck injury, NFL Network's Cameron Wolfe reported. Wide receiver Wan'Dale Robinson (concussion) was ruled out. Right guard Marcus McKethan (knee) is questionable to return.
  • New York Jets offensive tackle Alijah Vera-Tucker (calf) was ruled out of Sunday's game versus the Broncos.
